Brian MosherCome From Away

Guest for the First Weekend

PCT is happy to welcome teacher and broadcaster, Brian Mosher from Gander to Newport News for our opening weekend, February 26 - 28, 2027. We'll have talk-backs after the performances that weekend, and a chance to ask Brian questions to round out our appreciation for the people and spirit of Newfoundland.

Brian's Biography

Brian Mosher is a retired High School television media teacher. For more than two decades of a teaching career that spanned 31 years, while teaching television media at Gander Collegiate he was also the on-air personality at Rogers Television (formerly Cable Atlantic/ Cable 9) in Gander NL.

During the five days when the events of September 11, 2001 closed the airspace and rerouted nearly 7,000 passengers to Gander, NL, Brian would host 11 one hour live shows, providing information and updates as the days unfolded in Gander. It would be the events of these five days that would see his story combined with the story of newspaper reporter Janice Goudie become the character of Janice Mosher in the hit musical Come From Away.

Brian retired from teaching and television in 2013 and would spend the next five years as part of the CBC Radio Central Morning Show team. He fully retired in 2018 and has spent a large portion of his time since then attending and speaking at various openings and performances of “Come From Away” around the world as well as speaking to visiting groups with bus tours and tourism related events in Gander and around the world.

In 2024, Brian would return to the Rogers Television team. After co-hosting the Provincial coverage of the Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games, the Provincial coverage of the 2024 solar eclipse as well as a Municipal by-Election he would, along with co-host Hannah de Young accept the job as host of the new show on Rogers TV, “NL Direct” a provincial current affairs show that launched in the fall of 2024
